What's Included

The whole scheme, handled

Whether you pay subcontractors, work as one, or both, we keep you compliant and make sure deductions land in the right place.

Monthly contractor returns (CIS300)

If you pay subcontractors you must file a CIS return every month. We prepare and submit it on time, every time, avoiding the automatic £100+ late penalties.

Monthly

Subcontractor verification

Before you pay a new subcontractor, HMRC must be checked to confirm their deduction rate. We verify every subcontractor so you deduct correctly.

Compliance

Deduction statements

We produce the monthly payment and deduction statements you're legally required to give each subcontractor — clear, compliant and on time.

Statements

Subcontractor rebate claims

Contractors deduct tax before paying subcontractors, which often means you've overpaid. We reclaim CIS suffered through your return, frequently producing a healthy refund.

Refunds

Gross payment status

We help eligible subcontractors apply for and keep gross payment status, so you're paid in full and settle tax through your normal return — a big cash-flow win.

Cash Flow

CIS & the reverse charge

CIS and the VAT domestic reverse charge interact in ways that trip a lot of firms up. We make sure both are handled together, correctly.

How It Works

CIS, built in for construction

CIS returns are included as standard in our Construction sector package. On any other package, CIS is available as a straightforward monthly add-on — whether you're a contractor filing returns or a subcontractor reclaiming deductions.

All packages include a Xero subscription (our recommended software). View full package details →

Worth knowing

Every construction client gets Xero set up to separate labour, materials and subcontractor costs — so CIS deductions are tracked correctly all year, not reconstructed at the deadline.

Questions

CIS, explained

CIS is HMRC's tax scheme for the construction industry. Contractors deduct money from payments to subcontractors and pass it to HMRC as an advance on the subcontractor's tax and National Insurance. If you pay or are paid for construction work, CIS probably applies to you.
You're a contractor if you pay subcontractors for construction work; a subcontractor if you carry out work for a contractor. Many businesses are both. We handle either, or both.
Contractors deduct 20% from registered subcontractors, 30% from those not registered, or 0% for those with gross payment status. We verify each subcontractor with HMRC so the right rate is always applied.
Contractor CIS returns are due monthly, by the 19th, for the tax month ending on the 5th. Late returns trigger automatic penalties starting at £100. We file every return on time.
The tax deducted from your payments is offset against your final tax bill — and often exceeds it, producing a refund. We reclaim CIS suffered through your company return or Self Assessment, and chase the refund for you.
